Paswan’s demise — exactly 20 days before Bihar goes to polls, is also expected to impact the election prospects of the LJP, and the overall dynamics as well as outcome of the three-phased polls in the eastern state that kicks off on October 28.
Paswan spent the entire duration of the national Emergency in the mid-1970s in jail. He joined the Janata Party after the Emergency was lifted.
The LJP has started its election preparations, and according to party sources, has identified 119 seats where both the BJP and the JDU are weak. The party has started its preparations on these seats.
The only metropolitan city where people can drink tap water safely is Mumbai as all its samples complied with Indian standards, the minister said.
Paswan was declared elected after the deadline for the withdrawal of nomination papers ended at 3 p.m. on Friday in the absence of any other candidate.
Bihar emerged as one of the largest states where a rainbow alliance of opposition parties was taking on the incumbent Bharatiya Janata Party.
