Trichy: A mahila court here on Wednesday, April 24, sentenced a 22-year-old man to a jail term of three years after he threatened a minor girl by posting her edited picture on social media.
The court ordered, S Ajithkumar, to serve the two terms, which included another three-year sentence for “assaulting the girl with intent to outrage her modesty”, according to a Times of India report.
According to the public prosecutor Ventatesan, the convict is a construction worker who had proposed the minor girl and ever after the 17-year-old rejected his proposal, the man continued to harass her. Later, Ajithkumar downloaded the girl’s picture from the internet and morphed it.
Based on a complaint by the victim, the Golden Rock all-woman police took up the investigation and arrested him on September 26 last year, according to the daily’s report.
