Tata Punch iCNG Launched: Tata Motors has introduced CNG-powered Punch crossovers. Five variants of the Punch iCNG are available, with prices beginning at Rs. 7,09,900 (ex-showroom).
The Tata Punch iCNG employs Tata’s dual-cylinder CNG technology and is based on the ALFA platform. The location of the cylinders beneath the luggage compartment protects the valves and pipelines beneath the load floor. Tata claims that this configuration improves the rear body structure, and the CNG tanks’ six-point mounting system provides additional rear collision safety.
Tata Punch iCNG Launched
The Punch iCNG includes a voice-activated electric sunroof, front passenger armrest, USB Type C charger, and shark-fin antenna, among other features. Automatic projector headlamps with LED daytime running lights, diamond-cut 16-inch alloy wheels, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, rain-sensing windscreen wipers and a height-adjustable driver’s seat are included on the vehicle.
In CNG mode, the 1.2-liter engine in the Punch iCNG generates 72 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 103 Newton-meters of torque at 3,500 rpm. The engine is coupled with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
In CNG mode, the Punch iCNG is equipped with a single ECU and has ‘Direct Start’. In addition, a microswitch keeps the vehicle off during refuelling, and thermal incident protection shuts off the CNG supply to the engine and releases the gas into the atmosphere.
