Telangana to get separate bar council soon

After four and a half years of the creation of Telangana, the state is going to receive a separate bar council by bifurcating with erstwhile Andhra Pradesh (AP) Bar Council under AP Reorganization Act, 2014. Following which Telangana and Andhra Pradesh state governments have issued a gazette notification declaring two bar councils for AP and Telangana. The new bar council will come in existence from November first week in Telangana.

The staff under AP Bar Council will be divided between AP and Telangana under 52:48 ratio. For the division of the bar council, a special committee has been constituted with a few members of Bar Council of India and AP Bar Council to look after the developments for bifurcation process. The Bar Council of India which comprises of the Election Tribunal has to accept the bifurcation of AP Bar Council into two bar councils.
