Telangana Indiramma Bheema Insurance Scheme: Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said on Sunday that the state government will start the ‘Indiramma Bheema’ scheme on June 2. The plan will give ₹5 lakh life insurance cover to 1.15 crore families in the state. The announcement came during an event in Khammam, where he said the Congress government is keeping its election promises and taking welfare benefits to people at their doorstep.

He also said, “The historic ‘Indiramma Bheema’ scheme will be launched across the state on June 2 as a State Formation Day gift. This insurance scheme would act as a protective shield for 1.15 crore families in the state, irrespective of caste, religion, or economic status,” the Deputy CM said. The government is presenting the scheme as a wide safety net for families across social groups.

What the government says the scheme will do

According to the announcement, officials will soon go from house to house and collect the details needed for the scheme. The plan is meant to help families if the main earning member dies, so the family does not fall into sudden money trouble. The government has said the insurance cover will be available to all eligible families, not only to any one caste, religion or income group.

Bhatti Vikramarka also hit out at the previous BRS government. He said families of farmers who died by suicide had to struggle even for small help from the state earlier. He added that the Congress government wants to stop such pain from happening again, so it has decided to give ₹5 lakh insurance cover to every family that loses its head.

More welfare promises from the Congress government

The Deputy CM also said another scheme for solar power plants for women’s self-help groups will be launched on May 27 in Rajupalem village of the Madhira constituency. He said the government is already giving interest-free loans worth ₹20,000 crore every year to women’s groups and may raise this to ₹1 lakh crore if needed. He also said women already travel free in RTC buses across the state. In a further step, 550 special RTC buses will soon be reserved for women entrepreneurs to run. He said the goal is to make one crore women millionaires.

Bhatti also said the BRS government had “deceived” people for ten years with its double-bedroom house promise. He said the Congress government is giving ₹5 lakh help to each poor family so they can build their own home. So far, 4.5 lakh houses have been approved across the state, and the Cabinet has also cleared 2 lakh more houses. He added that the government has started free breakfast in government schools and midday meals for junior college students too.

On farming, he said the government will buy every grain of maize and paddy at the Minimum Support Price. He also said opposition parties are spreading false posts on social media because they cannot accept the welfare work being done by the government. He called on party workers to fight those “conspiracies” and said pamphlets explaining the schemes will soon be delivered door to door
