For families who were approved for SNAP after June 2020, payments will be sent out in steps from March 16 to March 28. The exact day depends on the last two numbers of the household’s Eligibility Determination Group, also called the EDG number. Each family gets its benefits on a set date based on that number.

Income and Work Rules
To receive SNAP in 2026, families must stay under certain income limits each month. A single person can earn up to $2,152. A family of four can earn up to $4,421 and still qualify.
There are also work rules for adults between 18 and 64 who do not have children living at home. These adults can usually get benefits for only three months in a three year period. To receive help for longer, they must work or take part in job training for at least 20 hours each week.
