Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer Thackeray which was released a day before republic day has started with a steady opening at the box office. The film which is a biopic based on Shiv Sena leader Bal Thackeray has collected 6 crores on its opening day, which is quite good for a pre-weekend release.
According to Taran Adarsh, the political biopic performed well in the state of Maharashtra specifically. Taran told in his tweet that the Marathi version of the film did well at the box office. He also said that the movie might expect growth on the republic day weekend.

The film was released alongside Kangana Ranaut starrer Manikarnika: Queen of Jhansi which has also witnessed a good opening and collected 8.75 crores on its opening day.
Film’s lead actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui has been gaining many praises and applauds from the industry for his performance in the film. Many film critics have also lauded Nawaz for his outstanding portrayal of Bal Thackeray.
The film has been directed by Abhijit Panse and it has been written by Sanjay Raut. Besides Nawazuddin Siddiqui, the film also stars Amrita Rao, Laxman Singh Rajput, and Radha Sagar.
