The movie has started a row of controversies in the country from the day of its trailer release. Some political parties are favouring the trailer, for instance, Bhartiya Janata Party has tweeted the movie trailer on their official handle by saying, “Riveting tale of how a family held the country to ransom for 10 long years. Was Dr (Manmohan) Singh just a regent who was holding on to the Prime Minister’s chair till the time heir (Rahul Gandhi) was ready? On the other hand, Congress and some other political parties and leaders are opposing the film by calling it a ‘political stunt’, ‘cheap politics’ against Congress etc following the Lok Sabha elections.

The movie will release months before the Lok Sabha elections.

Also, Lawyer Sudhir Kumar Ojha filed the case in Muzaffarpur’s Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court against ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’. The court has admitted the case and fixed January 8 to hear the case in Sub Divisional Judicial Magistrate court.

Ojha in his petition complained that Anupam Kher and Akshay Khanna have damaged the image of former PM Dr. Singh. “It hurt me and many others,” he said.
