Thousands of Children Removed From Social Security: According to the latest Supplemental Security Income (SSI) monthly data, the number of Americans under 18 receiving federal payments from the Social Security Administration (SSA) fell by about 6,800 in March.

Data showed that 982,000 people under 18 received federal payments in March, up from 989,000 the previous month.

This category of recipients didn’t immediately explain why they saw a decline. One possible explanation could be that these young people have aged out of the program.

On Monday, Newsweek contacted the SSA for comment. We will update our story as new information becomes available.

Those aged 18 to 64 also decreased by over 11,000 last month, from 3.972 million in February to 3.961 million in March.

The Social Security Administration offers assistance to Americans over 65 who are blind or disabled and have a limited income.
