Hizbul militants who invaded Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district, were killed in an encounter with the security forces today. Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir were overcame a fierce encounter with Hizbul’s district commander and his aides in Anantnag. The encounter broke out yesterday after terrorists opened fire at security personnel. The terrorists killed are believed to be from the terror outfit Hizbul Mujahideen and are local residents according to India Today. About three AK 47 rifles and other arms and ammunition have also been recovered from the terrorists.
Security forces closed off areas of Awoora village in Pahalgam after they were informed about the presence of militants. As security forces were laying cordon terrorists hiding in the village fired at security forces, which led to the gunfight.
“As the forces were conducting the search operation, the hiding terrorists fired at them which was retaliated, triggering off an encounter,” said an officer involved in the gunfight to India Today.
Soon after the encounter broke out in the area, the additional reinforcement of para-commandos were rushed to prevent the militants from escape.
