In yet another shameful incident, a trustee of a prominent international school in Mumbai has been booked on charges of rape and sexual assault of two kids (a boy and a girl), both aged three years old. The case was registered on May 18, after the girl’s mother saw bruises on the child’s private parts.

While the principal did not respond to any calls or texts, the trustee is not reachable. It is reported that he has fled the country.

The crimes reportedly happened in January and February this year. The girl’s mother took help of a local NGO to help her file the complaint.

“A teacher used to take two kids–both aged three–to the trustee’s office during breaks. The incident came to light when the mother of one of the two kids, a girl, noticed bruises on her private parts”, the NGO said. The teacher has been made co-accused in the case.

On being asked how the girl got the bruises, she replied that a ‘boy teacher’ did it to her. “The child was taken to an NGO, who helped the parents file the complaint. Besides the girl, a three-year-old boy was also similarly exploited,” said a police officer.

Mumbai police spokesperson DCP Rashmi Karandikar said an investigation is on and no arrests have been made so far.

The MIDC police, who are investigating the matter, said that it would be ‘quite a task’ to gather evidence owing to an extreme delay in complaint registration.

“In rape cases, it is highly important that the incident is reported immediately. The victim’s mother alleged that the incident took place after Diwali last year i.e. somewhere between November and December. But the day of crime is not clear. She found out about it in May and registered a complaint, following which we registered a first information report (FIR),” said the officer.

“It will be quite a task for us to gather scientific evidence. However, the victim has identified the trustee which tallies with her mother’s statement. The mother also alleged that the man had sexually assaulted another boy. We have contacted the boy’s parents. This may help us,” added the official.
