TN farmers run naked near Prime Minister’s office

Farmers from Tamil Nadu, who have been protesting in Delhi, took off their clothes and rolled through the roads near Prime Minister’s Office in Delhi on Monday. Police later arrested them.

Farmers resorted to this mode of protest after they were denied appointment to meet Prime Minister.

On Monday morning, a group of farmers reached PMO to meet Prime Minister. But they were denied the permission and told to submit their memorandum to an official. Returning from PMO, the farmers took off their cloths and protested. The police quickly arrested them.

Farmers from Tamil Nadu have been protesting at Jantar Mantar for more than 25 days demanding a drought relief package of Rs 40,000 crore from the Centre and farm loan waiver.

Madras High Court has directed the Tamil Nadu government to waive farm loans for all farmers in the state irrespective of their land holdings.

The central government has released Rs 1,447.99 crore to Tamil Nadu as financial assistance for drought relief fund.
