The Chennai assembly Speaker disqualified18 rebel legislators of the AIADMK in Tamil Nadu on Monday.They were loyal to sidelined deputy general secretary of the party, TTV Dhinakaran.
The legislators had withdrawn support to chief minister, E Palaniswami. They have been disqualified under the anti-defection law.
The opposition DMK and the rebel TTV Dhinakaran faction of the ruling AIADMK told the Madras High Court last week that the Palaniswami government had been reduced to a minority and should be made to take a floor test in the assembly.
This comes days after Dinakaran threatened to “bring down the government” after O Panneerselvam and E Palaniswami patched up and sidelined VK Sasikala.
