BACKGROUND

Tony Hawk, born Anthony Frank Hawk, grew up in San Diego, California. As a child, he was extremely demanding of himself; he participated in as many activities as possible, and he did not tolerate failure well. Hawk’s mother believed he was hyperactive, so she had him take an IQ test. Everyone was surprised by the results; juvenile Hawk was a prodigy with an IQ of 144. Hawk’s older sibling gave him a skateboard when he was nine. Hawk applied all of his energy and tenacity to mastering the use of that skateboard; it would eternally alter his life. At the age of 14, he was already a professional skateboarder and held the National Skateboard Association title, which he would hold for 12 years in a row.

Hawk’s own video game series, “Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater,” was released in 1999. The game was a tremendous success, attracting a new generation of young skateboard enthusiasts who helped revitalise the sport. Since its inception, the video game has spawned ten main-series installments, four spin-offs, and four repackagings. From “Police academy 4” to “CSI: Miami,” Hawk has appeared in numerous television programmes and films. He has even appeared in an episode of “The Simpsons.” This living legend invented thousands of new skateboarding manoeuvres throughout his career. In 1999, he successfully completed the “900” — one of his most well-known personal feats.

Hawk is the father of four children: Riley, Spencer, Keegan, and Kadence Clover. He is currently married to Cathy Goodman; they tied the knot in Ireland in 2015. Hawk is a generous individual. In 2002, he established the “Tony Hawk Foundation,” which is currently known as “The Skatepark Project.” This foundation constructs skateparks in disadvantaged communities, thereby providing young athletes with access to healthy, secure sports spaces and activities.
