BACKGROUND

Tony Romo is the professional name of Antonio Ramiro On April 21, 1980, Romo was born in San Diego, California, to Ramiro Romo Jr. and Joan Jakubowski. His father was stationed at the U.S. Naval Base in San Diego. Romo Jr. worked as a carpenter and construction labourer in Burlington, Wisconsin, while Jakubowski worked as a grocery store clerk. As a child, Romo played baseball and made the Little League All-Star team.

In the 1996 season, as a junior at the public secondary school, Romo was the starting quarterback for the Burlington secondary School Demons. In addition to being a captain on the varsity basketball team, he scored 1,080 points, a school record. And in 1999, he enrolled at Eastern Illinois University, Illinois, where he played football for the N.C.A.A. Division I-A.A. Eastern Illinois Panthers. As a sophomore, he was ranked second in Division I-A.A. for passing efficiency and received an All-America honourable mention at the conclusion of the season.

Despite his school and conference record-setting, Romo was not selected in the 2003 NFL draught. Later, the Cowboys signed him as a rookie free agent. Before becoming a starter for the majority of Cowboys’ contests, he spent a few years as a backup. Before the start of the 2016 season, a compression fracture of the L1 vertebra in his back was the final straw in a series of season-ending injuries. He missed the first ten games of the season, and Dak Prescott took over his position. In 2007, Romo announced his retirement from the National Football League after relinquishing his position to Prescott.

Following his retirement, he was named the primary colour analyst for CBS Sports’ National Football League telecasts. His contract with C.B.S. Sports was renewed in February 2020, as he is a highly-regarded sports analyst. In May of 2011, he wed Candice Crawford, and the couple has three sons.
