US-Iran Deal Funds: The United States is looking at a possible deal that could unlock as much as $20 billion in frozen Iranian money. In return, Iran would have to give up its stockpile of enriched uranium. The uranium issue is a very serious one in these talks. According to the Axios report, Iran now has nearly 2,000 kg of enriched uranium, and about 450 kg of that is enriched to 60%. That is one of the main reasons the issue has become such a major focus for the United States and other countries watching the talks closely.

Talks Continue but Big Gaps Remain
The report says the current discussions are being built around a three-page draft memorandum of understanding. This draft includes steps such as a voluntary pause in Iran’s uranium enrichment and measures connected to regional stability, including the Strait of Hormuz. Even so, the two sides are still far apart on some major points.
Earlier in the talks, the US side had floated a much smaller idea. Axios reported that the first American offer was around $6 billion and that it was meant for humanitarian use. Iran, on the other side, was asking for far more, with the report saying Tehran wanted $27 billion. That shows why the issue of frozen Iranian money is still one of the hardest parts of these negotiations.
No Final Deal Yet
Even after earlier talks in Islamabad ended without a breakthrough, the discussions have not stopped. Mediators from several countries are still involved, and more diplomacy is happening behind the scenes. Reuters reported on April 16 that President Donald Trump said he was hopeful about a possible agreement and even suggested he could go to Islamabad if a deal is signed there. But as of now, no final agreement has been reached.
