The United Arab Emirates (UAE) announced relaxation for more categories of visa on arrival for Indians. The UAE Ambassador to India, Mohammed Albanna, said the government will now grant visas on arrival to Indians who hold a valid residence visa of UK and European Union.
The step should facilitate more tourists in the country. Notably, UAE is emerging as a chief transit hub for passengers travelling from India to US and Europe. The US Border Immigration has formed a facility in UAE. It will let foreigners travelling to the US complete all formalities in UAE itself.
Ambassador Albania said the move was taken by the UAE Cabinet. It is in pursuance of agreements signed to facilitate people to people contacts during the visit of Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to India last year.
According to existing protocols, diplomats and government officials are issued visa at no cost.
