Over the weekend, Bollywood actress Amrita Singh with her daughter Sara Ali Khan approached Dehradun police stating that the Clement Town property be protected from a land mafia and also put up a board claiming that the land belongs to them.

Amrita’s maternal uncle Madhusudan Bimbet lived in Dehradun’s disputed property as the suit over the title is pending in court. On Saturday he died of cancer. Amrita came to Doon with Sara Khan, cremated her maternal uncle’s body and then both allegedly entered the bungalow.

However, reports suggest that Amrita will take the legal course and fight the battle in court with aunt Tahira Bimbat by her side since the Utarakhand police have refused to interfere in the matter.

The Uttarakhand Police is treading a cautious path and has ruled out any probe by the Special Task Force (SIT). “This is a civil court property dispute and we will not interfere in the matter,” said Director General of Police (DGP) Anil Raturi.

Meanwhile, Khushi Ram, the caretaker of the property, also lodged a complaint with the police pleading protection of the property.

Police officials who received complaints from Amrita Singh and Khushi Ram said they were examining them and would file a final report in the civil court.

Police are also verifying reports that Madhusudan had left a will in which he wanted to handover the property to a trust.
