In 2014, when the Supreme Court issued a landmark ruling recognising the transgender community as a third gender, the narrative of transgender activist Gauri Sawant, who had been at the forefront of the fight for equality and dignity, came to light. The creative team of Arjun Singgh Baran and Kartk D Nishandar conceived of a film adaptation of this captivating tale, with Sushmita Sen portraying the role of Gauri. The production of the biopic has concluded, and the film’s first poster has been released. Supposedly, Huma filmed the film in Mumbai for 37 consecutive days. The film ‘Tarla,’ produced by Ronnie Screwvala, Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, and Nitesh Tiwari, and directed by Piyush Gupta, will be released this year.
