In a bizarre incident in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut, thugs have duped Rs 2 crore from a doctor couple on pretext of giving Aladdin’s lamp.

According to reports, the thugs have been arrested and identified as Tantrik Anis and Ikkramuddin. The police, while questioning the accused, has started an investigation into the matter.

Anis and Ikkramuddin met Dr Laeek Ahmed who hails from Brahmapuri Police Station area. The thugs took the doctor home to get his mother treated.  About two months after the mother was treated, one of the tantriks brought a Baba and said that he had a lamp of Aladdin and that it would help to meet all the wishes. The doctor then made a deal for Aladdin’s fake lamp.

After feeling cheated, the doctor couple sought the police help filing a complaint and demanded action against the thugs.

Police have arrested accused Anis and Ikkramuddin and recovered a cash of Rs 20 thousand, a piece of stone. The police also recovered fake lamps and other belongings from the thugs.

During the police investigation, it was revealed that the thugs have cheated several people so far by displaying fake lamps in several districts. Police are interrogating the accused and investigating the case.
