The Uttar Pradesh government on Friday refuted media reports that claimed that it has banned the use of mobile phones in college premises across the state. The Directorate of Higher Education, clarified in a letter mentioning that “no such directive has been given by the education board.”

The statement comes after news of the Uttar Pradesh Government has banned the use of mobile phones in colleges and universities in the state went viral on social media.

According to reports, a circular was issued by the Directorate of Higher Education, the decision has been taken to ensure a ‘better teaching environment for students across all colleges and universities in the state’.

With the issue of the circular, students and teachers will no longer be able to use their mobile phones inside universities and colleges.

However, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has already banned the use of mobile phones during his official meetings of the state government, including Cabinet meetings.

According to reports, the decision was taken after some ministers and officers were found busy on their mobile phones during important meetings.
