Vandalism reported in BHU campus, 5 students injured

Five students have reportedly been admitted to BHU Trauma center after a clash erupted between the two group of students at Banaras Hindu University Aiyyar hostel on Wednesday.

In CPR Aiyyar hostel, two groups of student clashed over the breakfast table. Soon it took an ugly turn and around 100 to 150 students entered the hostel and start beating up the students and vandalising the hostel properties. Once again the atmosphere inside the Banaras Hindu University campus became very tense.

After receiving the complaint, Chief Proctor Prof. Royana Singh along with city SP Dinesh Kumar Singh reached the hostel. The police force was also deployed to maintain law and order. Chief Proctor said that there are two CCTV cameras installed in the hostel. Those who are involved in the violence will be identified through it, and appropriate action will be taken against them.

The agitating Aiyyar’s hostel residents sat on a protest against the attack and jammed the main road. They alleged that Birla Hostel students are behind the attack. Chief Proctor has assured that those who are involved will be punished.
