Watch: Kids, elders, saloons & even Amul going gaga over IAF Pilot Abhinandan's 'Mooch'

The country is continuously admiring the bravery of Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman. Social media is abuzz with activity about his return to Indian soil. However, his return is not the only thing that is trending. His unique gunslinger moustache with mutton chop beard style is also trending on social media.

After his return from captivity in Pakistan, many Indians want to sport the ‘Abhinandan style’ on their faces in a nod to the IAF pilot’s emulable bravery and courage, whose face had become the cynosure of all eyes in the last few days.

People are so enamoured by the braveheart that they won’t thick twice before emulating his style.

One of the best tributes came from none other than the Indian dairy giant Amul, which always manages to get it right when it comes to making sensible yet touching advertisements. Its latest video ad celebrating Indian Air Force Wing Commander Abhinandan Vartaman is yet another example.

After releasing one of its signature Amul girl print cartoons to mark the homecoming, the dairy cooperative has now released a video advertisement on the ‘mooch’ – the moustache.

Amul posted the ad on Twitter on Mar 2 with the caption, “#Amul Mooch: To Abhinandan from Amul!”. Within just 24 hours the video has over 170,000 views and over 3,000 likes.

His moustache was a hot topic of online and offline discussion in Bengaluru on Saturday and some made a beeline to their local saloon to get the ‘Abhinandan look’. A Shop owner Sameer Khan said at least 15 men got their moustaches trimmed for this new look. “It makes me proud to see youngsters doing it.”

A few men’s saloons offered 50% discount for those opting for the ‘Abhinandan moustache’. Spin Hair Saloon in Bagalagunte near Soladevanahalli offered it free of charge, according to manager Naveen Kumar.

Some even wish Abhinandan to become brand ambassador of men products.
