Vivo X500 Launch: Vivo has officially launched the X500 in China as part of its new X500 series. It’s the more affordable model below the X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max, but Vivo hasn’t removed many of the big features. The phone still gets Zeiss camera technology, a large battery and a new MediaTek processor. The Vivo X500 starts at 5,499 yuan, which is around $821. It’s also the first smartphone to use MediaTek’s Dimensity 9600M chipset. The phone will go on sale in China from September 24.
Vivo X500 focuses heavily on cameras
Vivo has given the X500 a triple rear camera setup. Its main camera has a 50MP Blueprint × Sony LYTIA-828 sensor with a 1/1.28-inch size and Zeiss optics. The phone also uses Vivo’s V3+ imaging chip to help with photo and video processing.
The main camera supports Zeiss gimbal-level image stabilization and has a CIPA 5.5 stabilization rating. There’s also a 64MP telephoto camera using the Sony LYTIA 610 sensor. This is the same sensor used by the X500 Pro’s APO telephoto camera. It offers a 72mm equivalent focal length, 3x optical zoom and a 15cm minimum focusing distance.

Vivo is also selling extra zoom accessories for the X500. The phone works with the “Lipstick 200” teleconverter and the 200mm Zeiss Teleconverter G2, which offers 2.35x magnification.
For video recording, the X500 can shoot 4K video at 120fps. Vivo also says it’s the first smartphone to support native 8K Live. The company has worked with services such as Weibo so users can share 8K Live content more easily. It also supports native 4K cinematic Live with movie-style colour effects.
6.59-inch OLED screen and huge battery
The phone has a 6.59-inch flat OLED display with a 1.5K resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. The LTPS panel can reach 4,000 nits of peak brightness at 20% APL, while its high-brightness mode can reach 2,000 nits. It also supports 2,160Hz PWM dimming at lower brightness levels.
The X500 comes in Earth Echo, Sunny Day, Dawn and Night colours. Vivo is also offering a special Sunny Day package with matching phone styling, a liquid-themed interface and movie colour effects. The package includes Sunny Day background music for the photo album and other matching software features.
A 7,500mAh battery powers the phone. It supports 90W wired charging and 40W wireless charging.
Dimensity 9600M, OriginOS 7 and pricing
The Dimensity 9600M is paired with Vivo’s Blueprint Imaging Chip V3+. The X500 also comes with LPDDR5X Ultra RAM and UFS 4.1 storage. Other features include an ultrasonic 3D fingerprint sensor, IR blaster, Bypass Charging 2.0, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4 and NFC. It uses a USB 3.2 Gen 1 port and has IP68 and IP69 protection.

The phone runs OriginOS 7 based on Android 17. Vivo has added a liquid-style design with bouncy unlock animations and photo effects that can blend pictures into the interface. The company claims the X500 can stay smooth for up to 72 months.
The 12GB+256GB model costs 5,499 yuan, while the 12GB+512GB version is priced at 5,999 yuan. The 12GB+1TB model costs 6,999 yuan. The phone is 8.15mm thick and weighs 211 grams in Earth Echo, Sunny Day and Dawn. The Night version weighs 213 grams.
