Hadiya, the Muslim girl sent to a homeopathy college by the Supreme Court for completing her studies, on Wednesday, said she wants the freedom to meet her husband Shafin Jahan.

“I had said in the court that I want to meet the people I love. I want freedom. I want the freedom to meet and talk to the people I love,” said the 24-year-old girl, whose marriage to her Muslim lover was annulled by the Kerala High Court.

“I don’t know whether I’m going to a prison again,” she said about her stay in the college where she has been allowed to complete her house surgency course in 11 months. She was talking to the media a day after reaching the college on Supreme Court orders on Monday.

Born Akhila, the girl converted to Islam and married Jahan while still studying. Her parents came to know about it after she refused to participate in a religious ceremony at home near Vaikom in Kerala.

Suspecting his daughter to be a victim of ‘love jihad’, her father Asokan K.M. approached the High Court seeking nullification of the marriage, which the court conceded.

However, her husband approached the Supreme Court against the High Court order. The apex court is yet to hear the case fully.

“For six months I only saw and talked to people I didn’t like. They harassed me and forced me. They are the ones who tried to convert my religion. Even my parents had at on one point said that I was a lunatic,” she said about her stay with her parents.

Hadiya said the college does not know what to do and what not to.

“I expect I’ll get facilities once they know the full details,” she said about the apex court order.

“I’ll talk to you after two or three days about the facilities I get or do not get. How safe I’m or the problems I face, I’ll talk,” Hadiya said.
