The killers of journalist and activist Gauri Lankesh have been identified, said Karnataka government on Tuesday. “We know who it is,” home minister, Ramalinga Reddy told NDTV.
However, it refused to divulge the details saying, broadcasting more information could jeopardize the case. “We have got clues, but we cannot tell things to the media for now because we should have correct evidence for the clues we have got,” he told reporters.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) is collecting evidence to prove them guilty.
Lankesh was shot dead by unknown assailants at her home in Bengaluru on the night of 5 September. The minister had claimed about SIT having gathered some clues in link with the case earlier.
The state government has formed the SIT led by IGP (Intelligence) BK Singh. The state has declared a reward of Rs 10 lakh to anyone who gives clues about the brutal assassination.
The murder of Lankesh led to outrage and protests across the nation
