Delhi violence: Security assistant in IB found dead

In a shocking incident, decomposed bodies of labor minister Moloy Ghatak’s sister in law and niece were found from their Asansol home. The incident took place a year and a half after the minister lost his elder brother Asim Ghatak in a freak accident.

As per reports, the police suspect the duo committed suicide but another brother of the minister, Avijit had claimed primary post mortem had indicated that they might have consumed poison but the cop did not verify it. The bodies have been sent for post mortem to the Asansol district hospital.

The decomposed bodies identified as Jayshree Ghatak (65) and her daughter Neelam (39) were discovered by a family aide, Azaz who had gone to Ghatak’s house in Asansol to deliver vegetables on Monday morning. When he was alerted by the foul smell, he informed the local councilor Swapan Banerjee who then informed Avijit.

He then informed his brother Moloy. The minister called the police who ultimately broke open the door and recovered the body around 3:30 pm. The locals said by looking at decomposition, it seems that they had died at least two days ago.

As per Avijit, the mother and the daughter slipped into depression following Asim’s sudden demise. He also said that they used to stay confined to their room and refuse to visit relatives. For the past couple of months, they had stopped meeting anyone and didn’t even allow the family members into the house.

A case of unnatural death has been registered and the police will record the statements of Azaz and other neighbors.
