Maximum Social Security benefit: Almost 70 million people get money every month from Social Security. Most of these people are retired workers who paid into Social Security while they were working.
Different people can get different amounts of benefits because the Social Security Administration looks at many things when deciding how much to pay out.
The amount of money retired workers get will depend on many things, such as how many years they worked for the agency, how much tax they paid during that time, and how old they were when they asked to retire.

The youngest person who can get Social Security payments will be 62 years old in 2024. But at that age, people don’t get all of their money because that’s the least amount that the government office will give them.
For every month that the employee is under full retirement age, the administration lowers the amount by a tiny percentage.
It is recommended to wait until full retirement age, which is 67 years old for individuals born after 1960, to be eligible for 100% of the money. For information on the complete retirement age based on your date of birth if you were born before then, refer to the official Social Security Administration table.
Employees who postpone retirement until age 70 or beyond may be qualified for the highest monthly Social Security income, which surpasses $4,000.
