Whatsapp privacy controversy: Govt asks WhatsApp to withdraw update immediately, sources

The government has also asked WhatsApp, the Facebook-led texting application to respect the informational privacy and data security of Indian users.

WhatsApp has been the centre of many headlines for a while, be it for the controversial privacy update its bringing or for leaking WhatsApp chats and statuses, but now as per many sources, and a leading daily, a piece of news is making rounds on teh fact that government has intertwined and asked WhatsApp to withdraw the controversial privacy document.

The government has also asked WhatsApp, the Facebook-led texting application to respect the informational privacy and data security of Indian users.

Other than that, the government has also sent a long list of questions to the company, asking more clarification and clearance on what the issue around the privacy update is and what’s going on with these updates.

Moreover, the new WhatsApp privacy has been linens in Europe but discriminatory in India, which too has been pointed out and asked in the withdrawal application, as per sources.

The government has shown displeasure with the way the privacy matter is being dealt with by the company and has asked the Facebook-led company WhatsApp to take measures against the same immediately.
