WhatsApp is Working on a New User Interface

WhatsApp Web Beta Adds Screen Lock Option: The WhatsApp Web Screen Lock feature is currently spreading out globally to select beta users. According to WABetaInfo, the feature is currently accessible to a limited number of beta users and will be rolled out to more users in the future days. Soon, a stable version of the screen lock functionality will be available. As the name suggests, this feature will enable users to password-protect WhatsApp Web, similar to Android and iOS. Here’s everything you need to know about WhatsApp Web’s new privacy feature.

WhatsApp Web Beta Adds Screen Lock Option: Users of WhatsApp Web Will Soon Be Able to Password-Protect Their Conversations

Once users have set a password for WhatsApp Web, they will be presented with the aforementioned interface. It will inform the user that the WhatsApp Web conversation list is password-protected and a password is required to access it. If the user forgets their password, they can click the Log Out button and re-link to WhatsApp Web by clicking the Log In icon.

It is a beneficial feature for WhatsApp Web users who must share their laptops or desktops with family members or coworkers. The new feature will assist them in doing so while protecting their private WhatsApp conversation from inquisitive eyes.

Notably, WABetaInfo discovered the feature while it was still in development a year ago. After a lengthy phase of testing and development, the security feature is now available to beta users. It should be rolled out to the majority of beta users in the coming days and to stable users shortly thereafter. Those who wish to prevent unauthorised access to their conversations must enrol in the official WhatsApp beta programme online.

Users must enrol in the WhatsApp Web Beta programme in order to obtain and utilise the new feature. Here are the steps required to enable the WhatsApp Web screen password on your computer.

  • Initiate WhatsApp Web.
  • Select Settings.
  • On the following page, select Security.
  • If available, the Screen Lock option should be displayed.
  • Enter the desired password and choose when WhatsApp Web will close the display.

Once a user has enabled the screen lock feature, not only will their conversations be protected, but WhatsApp Web will also no longer display notifications. It is a wonderful feature for enhancing WhatsApp Web users’ security and privacy.
