The Hathras rape case wherein a 19-year-old Dalit woman was allegedly gang-raped and assaulted by a group of upper-caste men in Uttar Pradesh state has turned into a political agenda within different parties of the nation.

AAP Sanjay Singh was talking to journalists outside the victim’s village when the man, identified as Deepak Sharma, threw black ink on him and shouted slogans. The stunned Rajya Sabha MP is seen flinching away in video. Sharma was nabbed by the police.

Deepak Sharma has been trending on Twitter ever since. #WelcomeBackDeepakSharma is trending with more than 40K tweets after his release.

Who is Deepak Sharma?

As per his Twitter handle, Deepak is the founder of Rashtra Swabhiman Dal and a freelancer reporter. His bio on the microblogging site reads, “Nationalist !! Son Of Bharat Mata !! Political Thinker !! Founder @ Rashtra Swabhiman Dal !! FreeLance Reporter !! Interior Designer By Profession.”

Well, Deepak Sharma has not been in the news for the first time. In 2017, the freelance reporter went viral on the internet for ‘memes’. He posted an outrageous videos wherein he listed his achievements for people who believed him to be uneducated. He especially focussed on his impressive educational qualifications, like an undergraduate degree in Microbiology, Masters in Interior Design, and an MBA in Interior Design Management.

Deepak’s first video became a meme material. His take on secular Hindus was laughed off. Followed by the memes made on him, Deepak released a video wherein he was seen thrashing a young boy and accused him of creating memes. The self-proclaimed protector of Hinduism ruthlessly thrashed the boy while threatening other meme creators.

His actions were not appreciated. A report on Storypick quotes Jaipur Police, “We have noticed the incident, and are taking action.” Sharma responded to the police getting involved, in an interview to ANI, he said, “My name is Deepak Sharma and I am from Rashtriya Swabhiman Dal. In the video, I had already mentioned the heading as “‘A’ Film”. I do not have to explain here what ‘A’ film means. If you watch that video clearly, you will come to know that it was filmed to show that if you post such demeaning things on the internet, it hurts the sentiments of the society and in turn, you will have to face the consequences. I haven’t mentioned his name, then how can people jump onto the conclusion that he is a Muslim.”

He added, “The film stars are not arrested for spreading such messages. I have put the heading of the video as ‘A Film’, so I don’t think the police will have any kind of discomfort with that. A sane person will understand what I have been trying to show in that video.”

“I haven’t only talked about Hindu religion; I have included every religion in that context. It has been seen in ‘the film’ that people will have to face the repercussion of their behaviour, if they harm the sentiments of the society. I do not understand how a person can be arrested for making a video,” Deepak said.

The self-proclaimed reporter, emerged again when the Hathras gangrape took place and was found cinciting the protest by the locals. He was also spotted shouting slogans against the media and the Uttar Pradesh government.

Deepak also shared his views on the Hathras Gangrape Case through a video on his Twitter handle.
