In a shocking turn of events, the Mathura police have booked six people including Kathavachak Devkinandan Thakur and his brother, for allegedly molesting wife of a local journalist and abusing them a week ago.

The incident took place on Feb 24 and police said, according to the victim, six men allegedly barged into his house and started abusing him.

The journalist claimed that he had some video linked to the suspects which they did not want him to broadcast. He alleged that they molested his wife and assaulted both of them.

Who is Devkinandan Thakur?

Devakinandan Thakur is a Hindu Purana storyteller, singer and spiritual guru. Since 1997, he has been giving discourses on Srimad Bhagwat Katha, Shri Ram Katha, Devi Bhagwat, Shiva Katha, Bhagavad Gita, etc.

He has also been awarded the UP Ratan Award in 2015. According to information found on the Internet, Devkinandan Thakur was born on 12 September 1978 in Oshawa village of Mathura, Uttar Pradesh. It is said that at the age of just 6, he left home and reached Vrindavan and attended the Rasleela Institute in Braj.

It is said that at the age of 13, he had memorized Shrimad Bhagwatpuran. At the age of 18, he gave the teachings of Shrimad Bhagwat Mahapuran to Shri Ram Mandir, Delhi.

They have so far narrated their stories in places like Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Holland. He founded the Seva Charitable Trust for Peace in the World. Their World Peace Service Charitable Trust aims to maintain happiness in the region’s air culturally and economically.

A large number of devotees participate in their sankirtana. Shri Devakinandan is popularly known as Thakurji Maharaj. He is a great devotee of Shri Radha Sarveshwarji. For the first time in 2001, he went out of the country for his fiction.

An FIR has been registered against the suspects under section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 452 (house-trespass after preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful restraint), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of IPC and Section 3 (1) of SC/ST Act at Highway police station.
