The official mistress, Sineenat “Koi” Wongvajirapakdi of Thailand’s King Maha Vajiralongkorn has always been in headlines since the 67-year-old Thai king named her as his royal consort in an elaborate ceremony in August of 2019.
This appointment of Sineenat as a royal consort was done as soon as the king ascended to the throne. Thus making it the first time in Thailand’s modern history that a monarch has publicly admitted to having more than one partner.
Who is Sineenat Wongvajirapakdi?
Niramon Ounprom, who is now known as Sineenat “Koi” Wongvajirapakdi, 35, is the mistress of the King of Thailand.
Sineenat worked as a nurse at Phra Mongkutklao Hospital, and at an army hospital, the Ananda Mahidol Hospital. Sineenat Wongvajirapakdi has also completed her military training in parachuting, royal bodyguarding, and the Thai army’s “Combat Qualifying Course in Jungle Warfare”.
She also holds a private pilot’s license following training in Germany and flight school in 2018 with the Thai Air Force. As of May 2019, she held the rank of major general.

She is so popular in and around Thailand that in August 2019, a biography with 60 photos of Chao Khun Phra Sineenat, posted on the website of the Bureau of the Royal Household, was so frequently accessed that it caused the website to crash.
Downfall: Rivalry between King’s mistress and Queen
On 21 October 2019, just two months after appointing Sineenat to royal consort, King Rama X issued a royal edict stripping her of all her government, military, and noble ranks, positions, and titles, as well as royal decorations, citing her conflict with and disrespectful conduct towards his wife, Queen Suthida. Notably, Queen Suthida is King’s fourth wife, he had divorced his first three wives.
On 29 August 2020, Royal mistress Sineenat’s titles, decorations, and military ranks were fully restored as if they had never been revoked after she spent months in Lat Yao Central Women’s Correctional Prison.
Nude Scandal
Some 1,400 selfies of Sineenat “Koi” Wongvajirapakdi — many of them sexually explicit — were allegedly leaked earlier this year to prominent critics of the Thai monarchy living abroad.
The leak of the photos is thought to be connected to a bitter rivalry between the king’s mistress and his wife. The revelation of the controversial snaps comes after the mistress rejoined the royal harem after being dramatically expelled last year.
British commentator Andrew MacGregor Marshall is one of the recipients of those sexually explicit photos. He told the Daily Beast that “From the timing of the whole thing it was clearly an attempt to sabotage her return to court”. “In any royal court you get factional fighting. It is a notorious element of palace life. When you are a monarch with a wife and queen and you appoint consort, it is a recipe for vicious infighting.”
