When the name of Varun Chakravarthy was called at the Indian Premier League 2019 auction, a total of 5 teams started to compete for the Tamil Nadu leggie but in the end, it was Kings XI Punjab who got him in their side with a price of Rs 8.4 Crore! The 27-year-old’s bidding had begun with a humble Rs 20 Lakhs.
In his initial years, Chakravarthy was a wicketkeeper-batsman but he stopped playing cricket after joining the SRM University. Working for a couple of years, the architect embraced the playing the field once again. Only this time, we saw Chakravarthy, the bowler.
