Did you ever wonder who did the first plastic surgery in this world? Or for a matter, who was the first person on this earth to have plastic surgery done on him/her? No, it’s not Walter Yeo to receive the first surgery, nor is ancient Indian surgeon Sushruta. According to a Member of Parliament Nalin Kumar Kateel, it is Lord Shiva who performed the first ever surgery on his son Lord Ganesha.
“The concept of plastic surgery was thought and performed for the first time ever in this world by Lord Shiva,” said MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, at a Vishwakarma Jayanti programme on Monday, September 17.
Narrating the story, Kateel explains, that when Parvati asked her son Ganesha to man the door while she went to have bath, the head of Ganesha was beheaded by someone. Seeing this, Lord Shiva cut the head of an elephant to join it on the torso of his son Ganesha by plastic surgery. Then onwards, Ganesha is knowns as Lord Ganapati.
The Vishwakarma Jayanti function was also attended by Mohammad Monu, president of Mangaluru Taluk Panchayat. Baikady Janardhan Achar, administrative officer of Shakti Residential School Dr Y Bharath Shetty, MLA Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, district president of Karnataka, Sahitya Parishad and administrative mentor of Kalikamba Vinayaka temple, K Keshava Acharya were also present in the function.
