The recent remark on Taj Mahal by BJP MLA, Sangeet Som, has triggered a huge backlash with  All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president, Asaduddin Owaisi. He had questioned whether Prime Minister Narendra Modi would stop unfurling national flag from Red Fort.

Owaisi also asked PM Modi and UP CM Yogi Adityanath if there would be a ban on tourists from visiting Taj Mahal. This comes in response to Som’s remark that Taj Mahal was a ‘blot’ on Indian history and culture as it was constructed by Mughals who plundered the country.

“If what he (Sangeet Som) says is true that Taj Mahal is a symbol of traitors, built by traitors then why does Modi go to Red Fort and hoist the national flag on a place which built by traitors?” Owaisi asked.

“Will Modi stop hoisting national flag from Red Fort. Will he stop hosting foreign dignitaries in Hyderabad House which was also built by traitors,” the Hyderabad MP added.

Earlier, Sangeet Som had said that Taj Mahal was a ‘blot’ on Indian culture built by ‘traitors’.
