Women’s World Boxing Championship: Mary Kom bags her sixth gold

Mary Kom wins gold at President's Cup in Indonesia

Mary Kom, India’s legendary boxer has added another yellow coloured metal to her already heavy kitty. The Commonwealth gold medallist first defeated North Korea’s Kim Hyang Mi in the Semifinals.

In the finals, she was pitted against Ukraine’s Hanna Okhota. The same Hanna Okhota whom she had beaten not so long ago. 2 months back, in Silesian Boxing Championship held in Poland, Mary Kom had defeated her in the Semis, winning the finals after prevailing against Aigerim Kassanayeva.

Mary Kom has now won a record six Gold medals in the Women’s World Boxing Championship. Besides a gold in the Asian Games, Mary has five gold medals in the Asian Women’s Boxing Championships.

Mary Kom is also a nominated MP of Rajya Sabha.
