World Food Day 2019 is celebrated around the world on October 16, as an opportunity for people to come together to declare their commitment to eradicating hunger worldwide.
The main aim behind observing World Food Day is to create an environment of food security around the world. The day stresses the importance of agriculture as a way to fulfilling the food needs of everyone.
With the theme “our actions are our future” this year, events will be held in 150 countries around the world, aiming to spread awareness about those who suffer from hunger all over the world and to encourage action to ensure food security and nutritious diets for all.
As our contribution, we have enlisted some easy and smart ways you can adopt to reduce food wastage.
So, take a vow!
Shop smart! Make a list and buy only what you need
Monitor what you throw away
Donate what you won’t use
Instead of throwing in bin, feed the leftovers to the animals
Store food properly in the fridge and freezer
Analyse why you waste
Get creative in Kitchen! Re-purpose your leftover food and make new dish out of it
Eat the fruit skins, egg-yolk and seeds
