World Oceans Day 2023: Facts, Significance and History

Since 2002, the Ocean Project has coordinated World Oceans Day on June 8. It’s a crucial environmental issue. We obtain both sustenance and medicine from the ocean, and it also helps to maintain a stable climate. Oh, and there’s this notion that water is the “lungs of the earth”; it turns out that the preponderance of the oxygen we inhale comes from the ocean. We always felt as though the waves gave us some vitality. (Although it was occasionally the lifeguard, this does not diminish the value of one of our most valuable resources.) However, if we do not take measures to preserve it, we will lose much more than a weekend getaway location. So dive in and do your part to maintain the ocean healthy.

WHY WORLD OCEANS DAY IS IMPORTANT

Perspective

Many people associate the seashore with fun in the sun. We don’t always consider the significance of water when we take a plunge, despite its pleasantness. It is essential to the biosphere, and we want future generations to be able to enjoy it. There are over a million of them, so there’s a good chance they’ll appreciate it as well. And when you gaze into the distance and see ships travelling to who knows where, it serves as a powerful reminder that we are all connected.

Motivation

So much of our refuse is nonbiodegradable, leaving the ocean to clean up after us. Putting recyclables in the correct bin is a useful first step, but we must continue this practise at home. Even if you do not reside near the coast, inform your friends and family that recycling makes the ocean happy.

Majesty

We don’t require an excuse to visit the beach, but we’ll eagerly accept one. At times, we have to surprise ourselves at how beautiful the location can be; a sunset reflected on the water looks like a painting. The ocean provides us with the ideal opportunity to clear our minds and unwind. Certain moments speak for themselves, so we need not elaborate. It’s not like the noisy seabirds would allow us to speak anyway.
