We have stepped into the last month of 2021 and it’s almost time to welcome the New Year. 2021, much like 2020, saw many digital releases as cinemas were shut across India during the second coronavirus wave. The year saw many big releases and, like every year, many celebrities made their debut in 2021.
Last year, Bollywood was graced by many new faces, including Alaya F, Roshan Mathew and Akansha Ranjan Kapoor. This year too, many fresh talents were introduced to the audience, including Ahan Shetty, Sharvari Wagh and Palak Tiwari.
Suniel Shetty’s son Ahan Shetty made his big Bollywood debut with Tadap. The film’s premiere was held in Mumbai, last night on December 1. Tadap, directed by Milan Lutharia, is a remake of Telugu hit RX 100. The film is produced by noted filmmaker Sajid Nadiadwala.
Tadap is all set to release on December 4. Talking about his debut, Ahan said, “I was training for several years. I would meet producers and directors on sets as they are my father’s friends and colleagues but that doesn’t mean I would get a break from them. I wouldn’t say it was easy. Sajid sir saw my action and dance videos and called me, he asked me to send him a few audition tapes. Basically, it (me getting this film) wasn’t anything to do with my father being an actor. I got the film because of my talent.”
Sharvari Wagh was an Assistant Director on Bajirao Mastani before she debuted with Bunty Aur Babli 2. The film also stars Saif Ali Khan, Rani Mukerji and Siddhant Chaturvedi. It is the sequel to Abhishek Bachchan and Rani Mukerji-starrer 2005 film of the same name.
The actress spoke about her big Bollywood debut on Ranveer Singh’s show, The Big Picture, and said, “Promoting my debut film Bunty Aur Babli 2 on The Big Picture was a surreal moment not only because it was one of my first television integration but also the fact that I was on the same screen as Ranveer Singh. In 2015, I was an AD on one of Ranveer’s most iconic films Bajirao Mastani. I was a clap AD on the action unit and got to witness his mind-boggling performance so closely.”
The film was released on November 19.
Shweta Tiwari’s daughter Palak Tiwari made her debut with Hardy Sandhu’s Bijlee Bijlee song. The music video marks Palak’s first on-screen outing. The song was sung by Harrdy Sandhu. The music of the track was composed by B Praak while lyrics are penned by Jaani.
The aspiring actress has already released the teaser of her first Bollywood film, Rosie The Saffron Chapter. Based on true events, the teaser gives a peek into the eerie world that the film is set in.
Katrina Kaif’s sister Isabelle Kaif made her much-awaited debut this year, in 2021. Isabelle Kaif made her debut opposite Sooraj Pancholi in Time to Dance. Isabelle plays the role of a dancer who is part of a dance academy. The film is directed by Stanley Menino D’Costa, longtime assistant of filmmaker-choreographer Remo D’Souza.
In an interview with PTI, Isabelle said that it was Katrina who inspired her. “She (Katrina) has always been very supportive. It always helps when you know people. She has always said ‘stay focused, keep working hard and not get yourself distracted by anything or any person as one can’t please everyone. I had an idea about what I was going to get into. I had a desire to enter the industry but I had to finish my schooling, then I went to college and then got into acting,” she said.
Danny Denzongpa’s son, Rinzing Denzongpa, made his debut in the industry with Zee5 series Squad The movie revolves around a young girl who has seemingly lost everyone in her life. Rinzing, who plays an STF commando, is tasked to save the child and deliver her to safety.
Malvika Raaj AKA Poo from Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham returns to the film industry with Rinzing Denzongpa-starrer Squad. After her stint in K3G, Malvika revealed her father wanted her to continue her studies and not enter the film world. The actress completed her education and is now back to entertaining her fans. In an interview with News 18, the actress said, “After seeing my poster in Squad, everyone was taken aback. So many people from the industry have messaged me, saying, ‘you’re looking so different’. The last time they saw me was as a young, bubbly child, and people expected me to do something in that zone. But that’s not what has happened. I have done the opposite of it, and people are surprised in a good way. I think I have achieved what I wanted.”
Malvika also revealed that she has been taking acting classes for a long time now.
Pranita Subhash made her Bollywood debut with Ajay Devgn’s Bhuj: The Pride of India. The actress has worked in Kannada, Telugu and Tamil films. Talking about her debut, the actress had said, “My Bollywood debut will mark a new phase for me. For every actor, no matter where you work, their ultimate goal is Bollywood because it caters to a really big audience in India.”
With so many debuts, 2021 was definitely a great year for Bollywood.
