Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath was born on 5 June, 1972 and di you know Yogi Adityanath‘s name was Ajay Singh Bisht and he was the resident of Uttarakhand. He took the oath of office of the 21st Chief Minister after the Bharatiya Janata Party’s big victory in the state assembly elections on 19 March 2017.
He represented Gorakhpur Lok Sabha constituency on a Bharatiya Janata Party ticket from 1998 to 2017 and was also elected as an MP in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
Adityanath is also the successor of Avaidyanath, the former Mahant of Gorakhnath Temple.
He is also the founder of Hindu Yuva Vahini, a social, cultural and nationalist group of Hindu youth, and his image is that of an intense nationalist leader.
In 2002, he set up the Hindu Yuva Vahini, a socio-cultural outfit, but whose volunteers were known to use strong-arm tactics in cow-protection drives and in their attempts to curtail ‘love jihad’.
In 2005, Yogi led a purification drive — Ghar Wapasi — under which many ‘returned’ to Hinduism.
A long-time BJP MP from Gorakhpur, Yogi Adityanath is also the head priest of the Gorakhnath temple in the eastern UP city of Gorakhpur.
Adityanath has been winning the Gorakhpur seat in UP since 1998; at 26, he was the youngest MP in the 12th Lok Sabha.
