CM Yogi Adityanath Biography: Yogi Adityanath (born Ajay Mohan Singh Bisht on 5 June 1972. Since March 19, 2017, has been the 21st and current Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. He is an Indian Hindu priest and politician from the Bharatiya Janata Party. He is also the longest-serving Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, surpassing Sampurnanand with his current tenure of over 6 years. Yogi has represented the Gorakhpur Urban Assembly constituency in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly since 2022 and was elected by the members of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council between 2017 and 2022.

The Early Life, Family, and Education of Yogi Adityanath
He was born on June 5, 1972 in Uttarakhand to a Gharwali Rajput family. Ajay Singh Bisht is his actual name. Anand Singh Bisht, his father, was a forest superintendent. He completed his primary education at Pauri and Rishikesh’s local institutions. He received his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhuguna University.
Approximately in 1990, he joined the Ayodhya Ram temple movement and became the disciple of Mahant Avaidyanath, the chief priest of Gorakhnath Math. He was subsequently given the appellation ‘Yogi Adityanath’ and succeeded Mahant Avaidyanath.
Mahant Avaidyanath appointed Yogi Adityanath as his successor around 1994, at which point Yogi Adityanath became the chief cleric of the Gorakhnath Math. Consequently, he was also named as Gorakhnath Math’s successor. Then, he was responsible for managing the schools, colleges, and hospitals operated by the Gorakhnath Trust Fund.

Yogi Adityanath, the chief cleric of Gorakhnath Math, was elected to the Indian Lower House in 1998, becoming the youngest member at age 26. He served on a number of committees, including the Department of Sugar and Edible Oils, the Consultative Committee, and the Ministry of Home Affairs. In 1999-2000, Adityanath was re-elected to the 13th Lok Sabha, and in 2004, he served in the 14th Lok Sabha. He also served on the Government Assurances, External Affairs, and Consultative Committees. In 2017, Yogi Adityanath, a prominent BJP campaigner in Uttar Pradesh, became the state’s chief minister.
He outlawed the smuggling of cows, tobacco, hashish, and gutka in government offices and established anti-Romeo squads. Adityanath also held a number of other ministries, such as Home, Housing, Revenue, Food, and Civil Supplies, Food Security and Drug Administration, stamp and Registry, town and country planning department, Economics and Statistics, Mines and Minerals, Flood Control, vigilance, prison, general administration, secretariat administration, personnel and appointment, information, institutional finance, planning, urban land, estate department, and UP state reorganisation committee. Adityanath is also the Chief Editor of the magazines Hindi Weekly’ and ‘Yogvani’.

He is passionate about yoga and spirituality. He promotes Cow-protection campaigns. In addition, he oversees Rashtra Raksha Abhiyan for Social and National Security, Gardening, religious Discourses, Bhajans, and the Touring of Religious Sites.
Controversies
Adityanath opposed the Women’s Reservation Bill in 2010, arguing that reservation does not impact women’s domestic responsibilities such as infant care. He also argued that males who develop feminine characteristics become gods, while women who develop masculine characteristics become demons. In 2014, Adityanath made controversial statements, such as alluding to religious conversions caused by interreligious marriages and claiming that if one Hindu girl is abducted, one hundred Muslim girls will also be abducted. In 2015, he proposed situating Hindu deity statues in every mosque. Adityanath exhorted those who shun Yoga to abandon Hindustan and those who see communalism in the Sun God to drown themselves or live in a dark room.
In addition, he criticised Shah Rukh Khan for employing the same terminology as Pakistani terrorist Hafiz Saeed. As well as Muslims who chose to remain in India after independence. In June 2021, Adityanath was seen cursing an ANI reporter. The media adviser claimed the video was doctored, but fact-checking revealed that it had not been altered.
