The election commission has issued advisory to voters’ of Delhi to be aware of misleading or fake calls coming from the anonymous or unknown person/sources/ entities saying that their names have been deleted in the electoral roll.
The advisory said, “Citizens are hereby advised to beware of such misleading calls coming from unknown persons/entities/sources. The only authority to add or delete a name in the electoral is Electoral Registration Officer.”

Soon after the advisory was issued, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal reacted by invoking the issue of names being deleted from the Telangana Electoral polls. He asked why election commission not allowing the Delhi Government to conduct an inquiry over the deletion of names matter.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission of India on Saturday launched a Voter Verification and Information Programme for upcoming 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
