Madhya Pradesh: 70-year-old woman lives in public toilet after since dispute with family

A 70-year-old woman in Bareha village in Satna district of Madhya Pradesh had been living in a toilet for almost an year after since she was forced to move out of the house over a family dispute. The elderly woman has her belongings kept inside a lavatory where she, cooks, sleeps and spend her day.

“I am the mother of three sons. My daughter-in-law and I were always arguing over various issues. I was later thrown out of the house. I have been living in the toilet for a year now. I cook for myself and sleep there,” said the woman while breaking down.

On acknowledging the situation of the woman, authorities sent the matter to the Sub Divisional Magistrate. Amarpatan Tehsildar Manvendra Singh said, “The matter has been sent to the Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM). We will also try to provide her with a house.”
