An Oops moment happened with an eatery in the UK when the waitress mistakenly served a wrong bottle of wine which cost over Rs 4 lakh to a diner. She had served a bottle of Chateau Le Pin Pomerol 2001 worth more than $5,000 to a customer who ordered a bottle that cost about $290.
The owner of Hawksmoor Manchester steakhouse and cocktail bar took to twitter and posted a “Chin Up” message for the waitress who committed an expensive mistake.
He tweeted “To the customer who accidentally got given a bottle of Chateau Le Pin Pomerol 2001, which is 4500 pounds on our menu, last night – hope you enjoyed your evening! To the member of staff who accidentally gave it away, chin up! One-off mistakes happen and we love you anyway.”

As someone who works in hospitality, bless you for being understanding and not flying off the handle at the poor lad/lass.

I once by accident released a £90k payment for work that hadn’t been delivered. I was sure I was going to get a formal warning, but my PM was like, “how about you develop a series of steps so this doesn’t happen again.”

Not quite on the same scale but the same thing happened to one of my staff once… best thing was the guest brought it back and complained that it was wrong after one glass! We then decided it was a good opportunity to taste a rare wine as a team! ?

While speaking to a media portal, Hawksmoor founder Will Beckett said that the manager from another location was helping the waitress on a busy night and since the bottles were so much similar, he picked up the wrong bottle by mistake.
