According to New York police officials, at least one person died and six others were injured after a gunman opened fire inside Bronx Lebanon Hospital. The authorities confirmed that the gunman was one of the former employees of the hospital who had entered the hospital premises carrying a hidden rifle under his lab coat.
He has been identified as Henry Bello, a family medicine physician. The authorities have not been able to figure out why Bello was no longer working at the hospital or what was his intention behind the shooting.

Reportedly, the shooting took place at 2:50 pm local time. Police van and emergency vehicles surrounded the area as the cops tried to evacuate the patients and doctors inside the building. They looked carefully to find the suspect. Later, the officials confirmed that the suspect, believed to be Bello, had shot himself and was found dead inside the building.
A probe is currently underway. No terrorist links have been confirmed as yet.
The Law Enforcement officials confirmed that the suspect started shooting in the 16th and 17th floor of the building before he killed himself.
“I thought I was going to die… When there’s a shooter and you don’t know where the shooter is, you don’t know what’s going to happen”, an eyewitness said.
This 120-year old hospital is considered to be one of the busiest emergency rooms in New York City.
