Trooping the Colour: On Saturday, King Charles, age 74, was honoured at the inaugural Trooping the Colour of his reign in London.
Since more than 260 years ago, the elaborate military spectacle has commemorated the birthday of the British monarch. King Charles assumed the Guard of Honour Order uniform of the Welsh Guards for the occasion.
The King is the honoured visitor at Trooping the Colour. On Saturday, the 74-year-old King was honoured at the first Trooping the Colour of his reign in London.

King Charles assumed the Guard of Honour Order uniform of the Welsh Guards for the occasion. The monarch is attired in the regimental uniform whose colours are being paraded. In addition, he donned the traditional garter-sash-decorated bearskin hat. On the regal uniform, the cypher of their predecessor is displayed; therefore, King Charles’ uniform bore the cypher of his mother, Queen Elizabeth.
The Trooping of the Colour has signified the official birthday of the British Sovereign for over 260 years.
In June, to celebrate the formal birthday of the Sovereign, approximately 1400 parading soldiers, 200 horses, and 400 musicians put on a spectacular display of military prowess, equestrian, and pageantry.
The streets are lined with spectators waiving flags as the parade travels from Buckingham Palace to the Horse Guard’s Parade while passing members of the Royal Family on horses and in carriages.
As the performance concludes, members of the Royal Family observe an RAF fly-by from the balcony of Buckingham Palace.
The 1st Battalion Welsh Guards will “troop their colour,” or present their flag. At Horse Guard’s Parade King Charles, Queen Camilla, and other royals watch. The Life Guards and the Blues and Royals. The regiment of which Princess Anne serves as Colonel-in-Chief will be specially designated to accompany the King.
After the presentation, King Charles, Queen Camilla, and the rest of the royal family will return to Buckingham Palace on horseback or in a horse-drawn carriage. The March Past and flypast, a cherished component of Trooping the Colour, will be viewed by the King and his family as they exit the balcony and view the March Past and flypast.
