Zhanna Samsonova, a Russian national who is 39 years old and a vegan influencer, ate only raw vegan food for years. She eventually starved to death. According to the New York Post, she advocates for raw foods frequently on her social media pages.
The woman, whose online alias was Zhanna D’Art, reportedly died on July 21 after finally seeking medical attention while touring Southeast Asia.
According to an Instagram post by Samsonova, she has been vegan and consumed only raw foods for at least ten years.
A friend recalled to Newsflash that “a few months ago in Sri Lanka, she appeared exhausted and had lymphoedematous legs.” She was returned home for treatment. However, she departed again. I was terrified the first time I saw her in Phuket.
“I lived one floor above her and dreaded discovering her body every morning,” her friend continued. Although I convinced her to seek assistance, she did not survive.
According to Samsonova’s mother, her daughter died of a “cholera-like infection.” However, the official cause of death was not made public. Her mother informed Vechernyaya Kazan that she believed Samsonova had died due to exhaustion and the strain a vegan diet had placed on her body.
A close friend told the New York Post that the influencer had only consumed the large, sweet jackfruit and the durian, a mace-like fruit renowned for its custardy meat and foul odor, for the previous seven years.
In one of her posts, Samsonova described her strict diet plan and exclaimed, “Every day, I feel my body and mind transform. Because I adore the new version of myself, I never revert to my previous ways.
She promoted the raw diet on social media, stating, “As a raw food chef with extensive experience, I consume simple foods. I enjoy creating my own recipes and encouraging others to eat healthily.
According to the medical health website Healthline, a raw food diet has disadvantages, especially when it is not well-planned. There are disadvantages to this diet, despite its many health benefits, which include weight loss, improved heart health, and a reduced risk of developing diabetes.
These deficiencies include vitamin D and calcium, both of which are essential for healthy bones. Moreover, this may result in insufficient B12 levels, which paradoxically can lead to heart disease, anemia, neurological damage, and infertility.
