Plagiarism Accusations on Jungkook’s ‘Seven’: The media outlet Dispatch published its findings on August 24 KST after investigating the allegations of plagiarism accusations on Jungkook’s ‘Seven’ which were initially raised by the producer Yang Joon Young of Fin.K.L’s “Time Mask”

Multiple news outlets reported on the plagiarism allegations made by Yang Joon Young earlier this week, generating widespread interest. Despite the fact that the two songs were in distinct keys, Yang asserted that their 4-bar sections shared the same note/scale sequence.

According to Yang Joon Young, the “problematic” section of “Seven” is between 00:55 and 01:03, with lyrics beginning with “You adore when I jump in. I am offering my entire being…”The comparable section in “Time of Mask” is between 00:52 and 01:10.

To test Yang Joon Young’s assertions, ‘Dispatch’ transferred the melody onto a blank music sheet. However, because “Seven” uses an Emaj scale and “Time of Mask” uses a Bm, it is difficult to convert the two tracks into a form with a completely matching key, as determined by “Dispatch.”

Still, ‘Dispatch’ converted “Seven” to a C key and “Time of Mask” to an Am key.

The media outlet determined that there was no identical overlap between the two songs in terms of key, chord progression, tempo, or the note arrangement.

An expert told ‘Dispatch’, “To evaluate the possibility of plagiarism, at least two overlapping components, such as the same melody and chord progression, must be identified. There are no overlapping components in this instance.”
