As long as there is money on the card and your account is not closed or suspended, it can even be used. Furthermore, payments that are made retroactively are not immediately required to be used.

If you haven’t used your EBT card for 274 days, or nine months, the Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA) has the right to remove your benefits. It’s important to note that before this happens, the DTA must send you a written warning at least 30 days in advance. Once the benefits are removed, the balance is erased and cannot be recovered, so be sure to keep an eye on your account usage.
